Obama - President Apostate?

From NYTimes OP-ED.
My reply:
----------------------------------------
This is just another bigoted attempt to undermine Obama's position. The NYTime should really do a better job at determining what OP-ED pieces get printed - it is not even written well.
Quote:
"As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood"
Obama was born on August 4 in Honolulu Hawaii. The last I checked, Hawaii is NOT an Islamic state therefore he was not born under Muslim law. Well, if Mr. Luttwack can't even get that right (the most basic of facts in this piece) then what can we say of the rest of his article?
Quote:
"It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion"
So, if his father renounced his religion, how would that make Obama a Muslim? Obviously, the child takes on the teachings of his/her parents and if his father was not equipped with the proper knowledge of Islam then how could he teach it to his son. I don't recall sons of "apostates" being born as Muslim.
Quote:
"With few exceptions, the jurists of all Sunni and Shiite schools prescribe execution for all adults who leave the faith not under duress; the recommended punishment is beheading at the hands of a cleric..."
Consider the following verses from the Qur'an:
1) 'If it had been the will of your Lord that all the people of the world should be believers, all the people of the earth would have believed! Would you then compel mankind against their will to believe?' (10:99)
2) '(O Prophet) proclaim: 'This is the Truth from your Lord. Now let him who will, believe in it, and him who will, deny it.'' (18:29)
3) 'If they turn away from thee (O Muhammad) they should know that We have not sent you to be their keeper. Your only duty is to convey My message.' (42:48)
4) 'Let there be no compulsion in religion.' (2:256)
Now, does that mean Islamic states will NOT behead people for converting out of Islam. Absolutely not. Why? Because Islamic states have some of the most backwards minded least progressive mentalities around. This is not because of the teachings of Islam. This happens when man allows himself to be close-minded and therefore unable to apply religious text in there proper context.
Quote:
'Because no government is likely to allow the prosecution of a President Obama..."
Strange, Muslims I know will be voting for Obama. As a matter of fact, I believe Obama will do more good in terms of relations with the Arab/Islamic world than Clinton and McCain who would both jump on the opportunity to subjugate and annihilate Arab/Islamic countries starting with Iran. When Faria and I went to Egypt, we asked people what they think about the current political situation in the US and all have expressed support for Obama. It's not whether or not Obama is a Muslim (even according to Islamic countries), it's about putting an end to George Bush's foreign policy. They try to paint Obama as Muslim so he can be an easy target for right-wing media which has powerful psychological control over the American populous using the addiction of television to get its message out.
The ironic thing is, if they paint him as a Muslim there are about 5 - 8 million Muslims (estimated) living in the United States who would then be more willing to vote for Obama. Those numbers are enough to sway an election, unfortunately, not enough Muslims go out and vote. Hopefully, this election will be different.
Even if there was a penalty for converting out of Islam only an Islamic State (governed by proper Islamic Law -which I personally don't believe any Islamic countries follow) can determine the ramifications. Hence, it is more akin to capital punishment which is ordained for treason. The United States and most other countries have this in there bodies of law.
Lastly, you will notice whenever you have a bigoted argument about Islam, they will always use Iran or Afghanistan is an example. They will never use moderate Islamic countries or even the Muslims in America as an example. The US has some of the most impressive and well educated Islamic scholars of the world. They are not sought out when an important event concerning Islam arises, nevertheless they also share part of the blame for that. Iran and Afghanistan have been fighting civil wars for many years leaving its people destitute. Whenever you have people who are so downtrodden and poor what chance do they have at gaining a proper understanding of the world much less their own religion?
P.S. The more I hear about Hillary, the more I think she is an embedded republican.
