Obama Slams New Yorker Portrayal

Could this be a possible scare-tatic in the name of journalism etc to drum up sales for the New Yorker? Honestly, I didn't even think The New Yorker was a popular or widely read publication.

Just as there is always an ounce of truth in any joke, sadly, this cover image might be a mirror for society and I don't doubt this is what many people think about and view Obama as.  Somewhere, John McCain is having a good laugh over this and his campaign has hung up a framed picture of this cover at their headquarters.

If the intention was to provoke fair and balanced discussion, then they better have a  very good "satire" of John McCain next month.

Here a comment from Kevin Drum at CBS:
If artist Barry Blitt had some real cojones, he would have drawn the same cover but shown it as a word bubble coming out John McCain's head — implying, you see, that this is how McCain wants the world to view Obama. But he didn't. Because that would have been unfair. And McCain would have complained about it. And for some reason, the risk that a failed satire would unfairly defame McCain is somehow seen as worse than the risk that a failed satire would unfairly defame Obama."
