Detainees Say They Planned Sept. 11

The five detainees at Guantánamo Bay charged with planning the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks have filed a document with the military commission at the United States naval base there expressing pride at their accomplishment and accepting full responsibility for the killing of nearly 3,000 people.

Oh really? So, after 8 years of torture we finally get a confession from five men who sound like pagans with their "offering to God." In fact, under these conditions I'm surprise they didn't get them to confess to aiding Hitler in exterminating Jews.
“To us,” the official continued reading, “they are not accusations. To us they are a badge of honor, which we carry with honor.”
If these men profess that their actions are a badge of honor, why then did it take 8 years in Guantanamo Bay to confess? You would think they would of come right out to show the world and America their objectives.
It appears that the men wrote the document at meetings they are permitted to conduct periodically at the detention camp without lawyers.

The “9/11 Shura Council,” says their actions were an offering to God, according to excerpts of the document that were read to a reporter by a government official who was not authorized to discuss it publicly.
After 8 years of torture, and unimaginable mental and physical pain, anyone under those conditions would be susceptible to forced coercion. The above statements sound like they were written by someone who has little knowledge of Islam.  The 9/11 Shura Council says their actions were an offering to God is a totally nonsensical statement. The more appropriate statement would be to perform physical Jihad (the lesser jihad) in the path of Allah (swt). However, this type of jihad can only be preformed in situations where there is extreme need for example in the face of oppression.

Concerning the sanctity of life, the Qur'an states:

“…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.” [Al-Qur’an 6:151]

No right minded Muslim believes that by taking innocent lives, you are gaining favor with God which he strictly forbade. Perhaps the most eloquent statement regarding rules of engagement when it comes to warfare comes from Abu Bakr (ra). Abu Bakr (ra), who was Muhammad's (pbuh) closest companion and first successor or caliphate, said:
"Stop, O people, that I may give you ten rules for your guidance in the battlefield. Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy's flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic (or humanitarian) services; leave them alone."
After Obama's executive orders to close Guantanamo, this seems like a last ditch effort to put Muslims in a bad light. To keep the situation in the Middle East and elsewhere tightly wound around political spin intent on dominating the region and ultimately causing death and destruction of many innocent lives. How ironic!

I ask anyone with a mind and education, can we really trust these back-alley allegations? It seems to me just another left over political ploy.
